Dominic Nicholas, April 2004

Dominic Nicholas is a San Francisco Bay Area based glassblower focusing on creating lighting and other objects from hand blown glass, examples of which are on display and for sale at this website.

He has studied extensively at Public Glass - San Francisco's center for the creation and education in the hot glass arts - where he has studied under Joe Cariati, Peter Ivy, Jerry Kung, Sean Salstrom, James Mcleod, Heather Smith, Beth Fishman and others. He has also studied murrini and cane techniques at Firehouse 12, in Vancouver, Washington, under Anthony Schafermeyer and Claire Kelly. Dominic currently blows glass at various studios in the San Francisco Bay Area and regularly assists other glassblowers in their work.

Dominic's artistic career has taken him in numerous directions. His work has included commercial studio and fine art photography, sculpture in mixed media and sculpture in cast paper and other mediums.

He has also taught alternative photographic polaroid and mixed media techniques. Dominic grew up in Bedford, England and emigrated to the US in 1991 where he lives and works in San Francisco, California.

Dominic is available for production and custom glass work commissions and the lamps shown on this website are examples of production pieces that are for sale.
